I recorded the rough version of my verse for a song dealing with racism which will feature Concept and appear on Lost In The Light as a remix to the solo version set to appear on The Memory Of Light. It was my first time recording on the new digital recorder, also my first time recording in over a year. On another note, a few of the albums I was working on have changed. Hour Of Need has now been split into two albums, one being Lost In The Moment which features tracks written primarily in 2004. Hour Of Need will now be recorded on beats similar to Lost In The Sands, primarily pop instrumentals from the 80's and early 90's, a tactic I now use when an album sucks. Hour Of Need would have sucked so I fixed it before the the damage was done. This one's going to be something special, I can tell already. February 12, 2016 I rewrote two verses today for a song called 'Mixed Emotions' for Lost In The Sands, turning it into a three verse song. It was originally slated to appear on the World Riot album back in the summer of 2000. I usually only change some of the lyrics but this one had a pretty big overhaul with lots of new stuff added. This one is on the Do It For Love instrumental by Hall & Oates. February 11, 2016 As Lost In The Sands nears completion, I've decided to add a few more tracks because, well, because why not. One of my greatest albums gets even better with the addition of 'Someone Else', a song that appeared on the original but will now have a different instrumental as well as updated lyrics. A remade version of 'Awake In The Night' now known as 'Lay Awake' will be on a different beat but keep the same lyrics. 'Crooked Streets', a song that was set to appear on The Days Of A Knight : In Biblical Times has also moved over to Lost In The Sands and will keep its intended instrumental of "It Must Have Been Love by Roxette. There will also be two 'new' songs, 'Mixed Emotions' and 'Coldhearted', both of which consist of old verses meant to feature other artists that never came to be from that time period. I'm updating both songs drastically with new lyrics, new choruses and some dope beats not meant to be rapped on. This will push the album to a proposed 20 songs so we'll see if they all fit. August 21, 2015 Working on a new book. This time it's something a little different, 'The Acadia You Haven't Seen', a trail guide to the forgotten and hidden places of Acadia National Park. I also put together a little video for The Great Cave, one of the hikes featured in the book. February 10, 2015 In April of 2002 I recorded a song called 'Sword Of Honor' for the 'And On The Third Day' album, in November of that year we did a remix featuring Assailant and Advokate. A few years later I wrote a part two to the song which was going to appear on the 'Third Day' bonus disc but scrapped the project and it never got recorded. I always loved the lyrics, its told from the point of view of sword. It will now appear over a decade later on the Hour Of Need album. I decided to change the beat and chorus it is no longer related to the Sword Of Honor songs, it is simply called 'The Sword' and is conveniently recorded on the instrumental from 'I Gave You Power' by Nas, a song told from a gun's perspective. This shit is crazy. Over time you replaced my power with gun powder / Humans always died, they still die but today they die louder Click here to listen to the song February 9, 2015 Since I haven't recorded much lately, I figured I'd get back in the swing of things by recording the Hour Of Need album, written primarily in 2005, consisting of songs that were cut from other projects. There's really no intended singles on it, just a bunch of filler material similar to a 'Lost' album. I dropped two tracks today, 'Life Won't Bring Me Down' and 'Step Your Game Up'. 'Life Won't Bring Me Down' is a softer joint dealing with life which I might end up adding a singer on to give it more of an R&B vibe. It was originally written for a 'Dead In A Dream' bonus disc that never came to be. 'Step Your Game Up' is a slightly harder track about my time in the rap game without much for a chorus, I kind of goof around on it, laughing and cracking jokes about the industry, a little different from my normal style. It was written for the Urban Legacy Vol III album when I was writing about 30 songs for a CD and only recording the best of the bunch. That's five songs down for Hour Of Need. January 30, 2015 I have so many albums in the works that I decided to just record them as soon as they're ready. First on the list was 'Let The Chapter Close' for the Hour Of Need album which consists of songs written between 2004 and 2006. Originally intended to be recorded on a beat produced by Sibley and myself for an album that never came to be, I threw it on Tupac's 'U Can Be Touched' instrumental, which fits the heartfelt lyrics perfectly, and wrote a new chorus that better matched the deep subject matter. This is only the third track recorded for Hour Of Need. January 16, 2015 For the first time in eight months, I hit the studio once again to record 'The Devil Creeps', one of the final tracks for Lost In The Sands. It features a new scrapped verse from Concept that was originally set to appear on The Enemy Of The Sun plus an old freestyle from Maega recorded back in 2000. I rewrote two of my old verses, keeping most of the original lines while adding tons of new ones to update it. Three original Royal Kingdom rappers spitting hard over Hilary Duff's 'Fly' instrumental. I put it off for awhile, not expecting much seeing as how it was thrown together rather last minute but the final product exceeded my expectations and will make a nice addition to the album fifteen years in the making. Two more songs to go. October 19, 2014 This past week was a sad one for the Royal Kingdom family, losing two of our own. Lonnie "Odyssey" Henderson was the first person I ever taught to rap, back in 1999, the first in a long line of not just incredible rappers, but incredible human beings as well. Sadly, being that it was in our early days, he never appeared on any songs. He went on to touch many lives all over the world. We also lost our brother Sonny "Luchiano" Rivera. At a time when I trusted no one, I trusted him. I'm truly honored to have been able to call him my friend. He was a knight, a G.O.D. affiliate, a soldier in The Infantry, and an amazing individual who will live on through his songs. Neither of you will ever be forgotten. September 8, 2014 So it's looking like The Enemy Of The Sun pretty much wraps up my music career. Unless something changes, I think I'm done. I truly believe no one cares enough to listen anymore, and that's not just my songs but all artists, signed and unsigned. If it doesn't pop up on a playlist, we don't bother playing it. If we don't play it, what are the odds we're going to buy it? I make music for the world to hear, but if the world no longer want to listen, it might be time to hang up the mic. I might still finish the albums I've started but I'm in no rush. It's been a hell of a ride. This rapping shit saved my life. In turn, I've given it everything I have. It takes up too much time, time that could be spent on my many other hobbies. So if you're reading this, bumping that real shit that only Proph can give you, I'll be busy writing novels, climbing mountains, planting forests, drawing, painting, writing poems, carving pictures into stones and searching for incredible rocks from the craziest places you can imagine because that's what I do. And you never know, you might find me bustin' a rhyme while doing it. http://forestforfree.blogspot.com/ http://leavetheworldbelow.blogspot.com/ June 18, 2014 I've started groundwork on four new albums. The next to be released is Lost In The Sun, the songs that got cut from The Enemy Of The Sun. It looks like it'll be about 15 tracks including a few remixes with all new lyrics as well as the songs that didn't make the final cut. The album is about a third of the way done. I've also begun work on Nightmare Awoken, an album written in 2007 that was never recorded. I've made beats for all but two songs and will begin recording it soon. Also partially written around the same time was The Sands Of Time II, but not all of the songs were completed so I'm currently adding a few verses. This one will be on other people's instrumentals that I've looped, all with a desert sort of feel. This will most likely be my shortest album with only 11 songs as I don't plan on adding any new ones. Last but not least is the follow up to The Enemy Of The Sun entitled The Memory Of Light with 13 tracks already written, all original beats produced by myself along with Royal Kingdom producer Sibley back in 2004. This album picks up where The Enemy left off with more vicious and offensive lyrical content. May 24, 2014 The Enemy Of The Sun is complete. The songs are all mastered. The covers are printed. The CDs are burned. Believe it, the Prophet's back. May 10, 2014 Three songs down, three of the last four needed to complete The Enemy Of The Sun and its extended bonus versions. The last song needed to finish the album was 'Misguided' featuring Santo on the chorus, a political jab at society, particularly the lower class having babies they shouldn't. For the Eminence Ink exclusive, there will now be two special bonus tracks, the theme song and 'F.A.M.E.' on a new beat as the original appeared on the Fame Tattoo mixtape in 2009. There is now also a remix for 'And With A Look' on an altered version of the original instrumental. It is set to appear on the Lost In The Sun album of cut material but may end up as a bonus track instead. Never mind, four songs done in one day. The 'Misguided' Remix has been completed and this one is something special, it may very well get added to the album and replace another song. If the original version is a scathing look at the birthrate of the lower class, this is the nail in the coffin. May 7, 2014 Santo wanted to redo his chorus on 'And With A Look' but I was always a fan of his original version. So the remix was created. I've added a more electronic feel to the instrumental and wrote two new verses for the song, originally four but two of the verses were written to be performed extremely fast and melodic but didn't fit the tempo of the beat. There will most likely be an R&B remix with two guest verses from myself and new verses by Santo. May 6, 2014 We completed the photo shoot today and shot some videos as well on location of the photo shoot. The first two videos in the works are 'State Of Affairs' and 'If I Was Locked Up', doing it like only Proph can do it; the rawest, grittiest, craziest shit you can imagine. May 1, 2014 Santo recorded his chorus for the final song on the album, Misguided, a politically fueled shot at society over a fast paced piano instrumental. Its purpose was to be a sort of follow up to Turn Away, mission accomplished. Santo's soulful hook makes it a standout track for sure. Now I just have to redo my vocals. |
